1-5-10 Staying focused!

Another successful day. But, as I get back into "routine" and the everyday schedules, it becomes so obvious as to what was habit! For example... I took the kids to piano lessons this afternoon, and sitting in the car waiting for them... I realized that I would usually eat and read a magazine! Just a weird feeling today! I didn't miss it, but knew that is what I would normally do. Almost scary too... so afraid I am just going to eat or drink something without even realizing it! Shelby had a Mountain Dew bottle, and she asked me to hold it while she got into the van... and normally I would just take a sip. So I really was petrified to even hold the bottle, what if I took a sip without even thinking????? So far, I've been absolutely hyper sensitive about the whole thing, so I haven't accidentally eaten anything I shouldn't!! Just hope that can continue! FOREVER!! I have gotten hungry now, but always I realize it is time for me to eat, so I always start with a protein, and by the time I am finished with my 1/4 cup of cottage cheese, OR 4 oz protein shake, OR 1 soft egg, etc... I am completely full, satisfied! So I do not want anything more!!! I did try a new item tonight. Split Pea Soup. I started with the dried peas, and then cooked them until soft. They are a good source of protein. They do have a few carbs too, but I can add a few now, as long as the protein is good. I had 1/4 cup. It
was good, but afterwards, it felt a little "heavy" in my tummy.

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow, just to check everything. My insisions, my book of foods, and blood sugar numbers, blood work, etc. I am thrilled with the progress I am making! I am so much healthier already, so it has made it all worthwhile! I just had a couple of weeks of being uncomfortable, but now... a better future healthwise!!!

Here is a thought:
Success ~ is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.

More later my Dear friends!
G-nite.... Eydie =)

1-4-10 Feeling GREAT!

Wow ~ what an awesome feeling! Today has probably been my best day so far! I am 4 weeks out now! This morning I ran some errands, then went to school and had lunch with Shelby (took my cheese stick), then more errands, home, then back to town for kids' activities, and such. Just felt really good, and was able to do the running! One of the things I had to do was have my glasses adjusted! The last couple of days my glasses have felt really loose, and they slide down my nose!!! =) Crazy, I don't remember bumping them! Ha... my face is changing, and my glasses just needed to be tightened!!! OH YEAH!!! Now, that was a great feeling!

While the kids were at basketball after school, I walked in the halls. They have it all mapped out, and there are benches along the hallway so I could sit down when needed. It is a big school, really nice! So much better than walking outside where it was -5 below zero!!!

At home... did some more exercises, mostly stretching. I have trouble with twisting yet. Hurts to twist my body, my middle. For example... when I look over my shoulder to back out of a parking spot, I have to be careful, as it does twist the middle! Things I really didn't think about before. That is about the only thing left that I still "feel". But everything else is doing great!

Well.... I hope this is finding each one of you having a very good New Year so far!!!
Love to you all... Eydie =)

1-3-10 Sunday church/pot-luck

Yesterday I mentioned we were to be at a pot-luck today. I was completely prepared. I took along my protein drink. I had made a Wild Rice Waldorf Salad for the pot-luck. These pot-lucks are feasts with the most scrumptious dishes! All during our church meeting, you could smell these dishes heating in the oven! Unfortunately, by the time it was ready to serve, it had turned on me, and made me very nauseous again... just like Christmas Dinner at my Aunts. If I would have stayed, I would have been sick. We only live about a half mile away, so I went home, before everyone else ate. Neal and the kids stayed and enjoyed the meal. I came home and had my protein shake, then took a nap! =)

This evening we needed to use a Pizza Hut coupon that Shelby had gotten from school through a reading program. I just didn't think it would set well again, with the smells of the restaurant, so I wondered about getting the pizza and bringing it home, but Neal wanted the salad bar, etc... so Neal took the kids and went. I stayed home and had another protein drink. I am trying to drink more of these for meal replacements because I am not getting enough protein. Protein is extremely important in the diet to build and repair body tissue and muscles, and skin regrowth and repair and to prevent hair loss. We are to aim for 65 grams a day and I am getting about 30, so I have a ways to go. Each of my protein drinks has 14 grams.

It may seem like I am missing out on the food socializing. I do not feel this way at all. In some way, I actually wish I would never get my cravings back for these foods! I really wish I could just see food as a means to life... not living to eat! I am so determined to make this work though, and it surely has been worthwhile already. My health has improved, and as the weight comes off... it will get even better.

Tomorrow morning, Monday, the kids are back to school after the holiday break. They are bumming, but have said they are happy to be going back to see their friends. It will be great to get back to a routine. School, then activities until 7 pm. Glad I am feeling better enough to take care of my wonderful family!

All for tonight... Love you all... Eydie =)

1-2-10 blood sugars?

Some have questioned my blood sugars. I guess I hadn't written about that for a few days. I am still off of insulin, and.... I keep checking... and this evening it was 99. Oh yeah!!! I am no longer a diabetic!!! What an awesome feeling, an incredible thing to be able to say!

Tomorrow, Sunday, we have a big pot-luck after church. Oh boy, that would normally mean a grand feast! Part of me is nervous, but yet... I already know I will take either a cheese stick, or a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese, or my 4 oz protein drink. So I have 3 options! So I say I am nervous, but I have my mind so set! Things really are not appealing to me like they used to. Today Neal got 2 double cheeseburgers from McDonald's, and they just didn't even look good, or even smell good! Just think of the grease, the fat and calories in those things! YIKES!

I started exercising today! Not much of course, but about 5 minutes... some stretching and simple routine steps. Oh Yeah... it's a start. But success starts with one step, and then another... and just keep going!

Anyway, I am not having any problems at all now. Still get a bit tired, but, even that is getting better.

Hope you all are having a great weekend, and the beginning of the new year is going good for you as well.

Love... Eydie =)

01-01-10 Happy New Year!!!!

Happy New Year Everyone! The year is starting off so beautifully! We have a bright, blue full moon shining on us! We all went out at midnight and lit some fireworks to help celebrate!

This is going to be a great year for each one of us hopefully, and an even healthier one for all!

I am feeling better each day, my health is improving, medications are reduced drastically, I am OFF of insulin still, so just so excited about the whole process! I am being SOOO careful with what I am eating. I have NOT had one single sip or bite of anything that I am not suppose to have!!! I know I just cannot go down that path! I am finding new and different things to do, instead of eating! I have taken out some of my craft things again. Making stationary, cards, etc. Also playing my piano more, and my guitar & violin too! Just really need to find other things to do in my few extra moments. I don't want to disappoint my family or friends... but also... I don't want to disappoint myself either!!!! I am really looking forward to being able to start in on some exercises soon. That will help me all the way around too! So far, I am just walking a little. Really too much snow and ice outside now, but I do walk at our Walmart store too. When school starts again on January 4th, then I can walk there while the kids are at Basketball.

Well, all for tonight, wishing you each a wonderful and healthy New Year!!!
Love, Eydie =)
